"So the text book says..."
History
I wanted to write a modern song that was influenced, musically, by Morris dancing. I... think I got away with it? The melody is played on a Hohner Pokerwork (button accordion), which is kind of the weapon of choice for Morris bandmembers like me. And although the tune is a little slow, I think you could just about step-hop to it. Oh, and I also wanted to write something dead cheesy - did I mention that? Genuinely. So that tendency didn't come as a shock to anyone later in my musical career.
Lyrics
----------------------------------------- The heart is a muscle, so the text book says The more that you use it, the stronger it gets The stronger it gets, the better you feel So meet me tomorrow at the Whip & Wheel ----------------------------------------- I'll meet you at 7 at the Whip & Wheel We'll go see a film and then I'll buy you a meal And then we'll go out drinking till the sun comes up We'll do the Macarena while the world wakes up ----------------------------------------- The heart is a muscle, so the text book says... ----------------------------------------- I'll take you to the ceilidh by the riverside I'll take you to the ceilidh and I'll take you inside And there we'll strip the willow up and down the floor We'll strip the willow till we can't strip anymore ----------------------------------------- The heart is a muscle, so the text book says... ----------------------------------------- The heart, the heart Oh, it's just a muscle and The heart, the heart Oh, it's just a muscle and The heart, the heart However you feel Meet me tomorrow at the Whip & Wheel I know you think it's over and you feel so sad And every time you think of him it hurts so bad But maybe your old ticker has some more fight yet The heart is a muscle, honey, don't forget ----------------------------------------- The heart is a muscle, honey, don't forget The more that you use it, the stronger it gets It won’t be long before you’re feeling better The heart is a muscle, honey, don't forget -----------------------------------------Credits & Copyright
