Before there was The Half Moon All Stars, there was The Reverenzas (named after a particularly fancy dance step): a three-piece with myself on guitar, Henry Webster on fiddle and first Jamie Huddlestone and later Sandy Shallis on melodeon.
‘How We Roll’ wasn’t quite a professional album – more a polished demo. I’m still rather proud of it. The Spiers & Boden influence is pretty apparent, of course (which was probably more my doing than anybody’s).
The rather strange title comes from my habit of making sentences out of the various tunes that appear in the track: first Bear Dance, and then Bonny Kate.
