Call for music video makers!

You there! Are you a filmmaker?

I’m a big fan of music videos. I’ve never seen them as purely a promotional tool; I believe them to be an extension of music, like cover art. They provide that visual dimension that music alone (obviously) lacks. And when they’re done right…

… like this …

… or this …

… they can make you connect with the music on a deeper level.

Now, I would love to make music videos myself, but I feel I don’t have a visual language for it. One day I might learn. But I’d much rather hire other filmmakers who know what they’re doing to create their own visual interpretations of what the music is about.

I have a small budget, so this is probably only going to apply to film-makers who are just starting out. Alas, this is not something that will pay for itself. Well, maybe one day — my dream is to have a Patreon account purely for paying collaborators. But right now, this is a traditional vanity project, in that it’s primarily for an audience of me. But still, I would love to see what filmmakers would do with these songs. (Which songs? These songs.)

So if you’re a filmmaker who is starting out and looking for opportunities to put in a portfolio, do drop me an email in the form below, or get in touch via social media. And if you know someone who is in this position, maybe nudge them towards this site?

Thanking you kindly, and long live the bright music video future…
